Air-filter Restriction Gauge

I asked about that because my '08 Sierra does not have it, and my dad's '08 Yukon does. Apparently, they stopped including them because they didn't really work. They would not alert to a dirty filter early enough and mechanics/lube guys/whoever would rely on the gauge and not physically check the filter element.

Yeah...I kinda have to go for the whole not working thing...I finally went to check my air filter that was probably original at 45k, the gauge had still not moved, but damn, that filter was nasty. Don't know if it really was restricting flow or not...but its got a nice new Purolator PureONE now.

I'd rather have an underhood light than that useless gauge.

Never looked at it, completely pointless. I do hate that the box has torx screws, wtf happened to phillips? As for underhood lights, I loved the one my parents had in their 95 Suburban, it clipped under the hood but came off and had a huge cord that could pretty much reach anywhere around the vehicle, I want one of those.

No shit. I'll never understand why GM quit putting them on vehicles. :D

Whats f'd up? The only GM that I don't have a light on, is the only one I have never worked on the dark.

:knocks on wood:

My 89 had one of those retractable trouble lights and it was awesome. And, unlike most underhood lights, it actually worked for more than a year.

My 2007 used to have an air filter gauge, but I left it off when I installed my GMPP CAI. The gauge on my 2000 never moved.

Good idea if they are even still available? If so, count me in.
