Front Hitch Installed No Anchor Points

Installed Curt front hitch on 2002 GMC 1500HD quad cab. The install procedures call for the removal of the two front tow hooks to install the hitch. With the front winch installed in the hitch I do not have any front anchor points to facilitate the use of a snatch block. Any suggestions?

I know that the recovery line should be put on a hook to the frame to avoid twisting/flexing the frame, but unless you are that hard-core, I'd just put a hitch insert in the hitch.

+ 1. Get one of those rings that go into a 2" receiver and call it a day.

I think the winch is installed in the receiver.

Can you could rig up a ring under the receiver for a snatch block?

The winch mounts to the front hitch. The hitch does have some holes in it but they are to small for shackles and don't line up to a universal hook. It looks like I could mount the original hooks back, but the bolts mount into the threaded hook and it would have to hold the hook and the mount. I'm looking to see if anyone has a suggestion other than drilling. Thanks.

All the tow hooks we offer have different spacing than the hitch and factory hooks, so we have nothing to work with this hitch. I am unaware of another manufacturer who would make hooks to these specs.

Weld the hooks to the frame...If they need to come off later, a couple grinder cutting discs will fix it.

Well,

spent a few hours in 8 degree (F) and installed the original hook with no mods to the mount, frame, or hook. I used one of the bolts provided with the kit (longer than original and two of the orinal bolts and mounted the hook in its original position. I had to clean the threads on the hook as the the old bolts didn't go all the way thru and part of the threads had corroded. Instead of nuts on the two bolts with the kit, you have the hook's threaded body. I only did one side as the wiring is on the other and wanted to test the strength of the hook. That's my only guess as to why the manufactor recommend you take them off when installing the mount. To all thanks for all of the information.
