Thinking Of Buying A New Truck

Recommended Posts

Hi i currently own a 02 jimmy 4x4 and it gets horrible gas mileage, im talking 250 kms to a TANK.. So i found this 2000 sierra stepside ext cab z71 with 52000kms on it and a 5.3 asking a pretty decent price. Now what kind of flaws are with this year and style? What kind of mpg should i bet getting? Whats the biggest tire i can fit on it? Can i fit a snowmobile in the box?

thanks guys!

I think that you will be happy with it... See if you can check the services records... If its been taking care of and you take care if it Will be a nice truck!!!

Honestly I wouldnt expect much maintenance till 100,000 miles except for brakes and routine maintenance!

the guy never drives it, only thing that went was a fuel pump, so it has a new fuel pump and filter. He has owned the truck for 15 months now, bought it from a dealer and thats the only thing that went wrong.. Its only had full synthetic oil changes, truck has been babied, no accidents no anything, clean title.

I'm sorry if I came on a little rude earlier, I was craving a smoke. You can try searching for all of your answer's also. A lot of the member's have the 5.3 Good luck. You might as well buy the truck, since that is what your screen name is.

I have no idea what the are in liters, but they are either 24 or 26 gallon tanks.

The only problems you might have is a faulty sending unit causing you gas gauge not to work properly. Hopefully when he replaced the fuel pump, he replaced the sending unit too :D

As far as tires, you fit 265's easily, but if you want to crank the torsion bars about 1.5", you can run 285/75/16's.

1999 Sierra reg. cab sport side w/ 194,000 miles purchased new. Items needing replaced include:

u-joints, front pinion seal, evap valve in gas tank, window regulator/motor, 4X4 switch, parking brake and dust shield are rusted beyond repair, faulty fuel guage, speakers in door fell apart.

That's about all I can think of right now. I never really worked this truck very hard. Regular maintenance, changed out differential fluid and transfer case fluid at 100k, transmission got new fluid & filter every 75k, plugs & wires, hoses and coolant every 100k.
