So today I decided to debadge my tailgate (Chevy sign only). I heated it up for 10 minutes using a hair dryer and removed it using a fishing line. I got the sign off, but this did not. Any tips on how to remove this? I already wasted a whole bottle of Goo-Gone and it didn't do anything.

Also does WD-40 damage the paint?

Just rub it with your thumb with a little force, it'll ball up and come right off. It'll take forever and your thumbs will be sore for a day or so...But it'll come off.

I was doing that for 30 minutes, then I thought that there must be an easier way. My thumbs are sore right now though. My paint is really thin..my finger nail will scratch it so I'm scared to use force.

Well an angle grinder or a wire wheel will take it right off...That's the easy way.

It WILL wear your thumbs out...I scalded the heck out of all my fingers and thumbs because I continued to heat the stuff while I was peeling and picking at it. Warmer it is the easier it comes off.

WD40 probably won't work ask well as GooGone either.

use adhesive remover.. we use it all the time at work. and works AWESOME. sometimes if rockers get small rust spots due to defects in them we have to rip them all off a truck and that stuff makes it MUCH easier..

Thanks for the help guys! Tomorrow I'll go to Lordco and see if they have the 3M Adhesive Remover.

I've used the 3M hundreds of times on several projects. It's a little pricey but has more than made up for the price. The same quart has lasted several years.

I forgot, it does leave a residue. Follow-up with some alcohol (the stuff you use in the bathroom)...AND drink some of the other kind, just for fun.

Might want to wait until AFTER you finish working on your truck!

Z71 stickers make as much sense as an Ain't Skeered windshield banner or those giant vinyl dragons the ricers stick down the side of their Hondas.

Ever see a Cadillac Escalade with its suspension package noted in stickers on the side? There's a reason for that. :P

I was able to get mine of without heating I just used the Googone in the Aerosal can and that stuff works great... I sprayed it so that it would fall behind the bow tie badge and let it soak... Used the fishing line...

Sprayed the black adhesive and let it soak with that googone. Used a brand new extremely sharp razor blade and I was done in 10-20 minutes... I think that it helped that it was 70-80 degrees outside. Got it all off without a scratch!

*Though I would not recommend using a razor blade unless you have done it before! :D
