Rear Jack Location

The owners manual says to place the jack on the rear axle between the shock mount & spring anchor. The factory jack does not fit in between these & reach the axle. Where do I really need to place the jack?

what are you trying to do exactly?? got a floor jack? place it under the center of the axle housing

I recently removed my rear wheels to install mud flaps, and I encountered the same dilemma. The jack head does not fit where the manual says to out it. So I placed it on the inside of the shock mount, towards the differential. Ideally you want to be as close to the wheel as possible, but there just was not enough room. I did it this way and it seemed to work fine.

Thanks for the reply. I was also installing mud flaps & wheel house liners. I ended up putting the jack under the leaf spring mount. I put my jack stand where you put your jack. It worked & seemed pretty stable.

Thanks for the reply & thanks for the great idea....I was trying to use the factory jack in case I ever got a flat out on the road. I do have a floor jack & will use it like you suggested in the future.
