Afm Vs Vvt

Alright well i am confused on what VVT actually is because i know that AFM is where it turns off 4 of the cylinders but is VVT the same thing or is it something like it advances the timing or adjusts it in real time. And i know that someone will reply with a classic "use the search button up on top" and i already did and it just made me more confused so anyone got an idea?

Nope completely different, but I bet VVT saves more fuel than AFM does.

I have already said in here how bad my MPG thats why I can't get 99

I have the VVT 6.0 in my Burb 2500, and it feels like a totally different engine over 3500 RPM especially when pulling a trailer. Feels like you hit a mini nitrous button between 3500 and 4000 RPM when pulling a load and accelerating full throttle.

 

In my old job (environmental engineer for GM) I drove alot of full size GM SUVs and the AFM trucks did not get any better mileage than the non-AFM trucks. AFM does, however, give a better estimated fuel economy by EPA rating methods. That's why it's there.
