My Truck Is Alive! It Makes It's Own Choices!

When ever my truck feels like it, it throws itself into 4wd. Usually when i am decellerating to turn at lower speeds. This has also caused the ujoints in the new front axle to go bad. It does not matter what conditions or temps are current, it just starts "hopping" the front tires across the road. As if a 1-ton crew cab, long bed wasn't hard enough to keep between the lines, the 4wd just makes it worse.

Any Thoughts?

I have no idea what could be causing that to happen except something with your acuator. LMC truck offers a manual push/pull control knob to manually engage the front axels rather than electronically. This also solves the slow acuator blues

Never thought about the actuator. Just figured it would be more mechanical. I might replace the actuator just to see if it will fix this for now.

Is it push button or floor shift? I woulds say IF its floor shift replace the ball switch, it could be bad, it can engage the actuator without knowing,,, although it should light up the floor lights, does that happen?

It is the Floor shift. When I engage 4wd, the lights on the floor indicate the fact that it is 4wd. However, there is also the "x-ray" picture of a truck next to the shifter, and it only indicates the rear wheels being engaged no matter what the tranfer case is doing. I do know that 4wd works great, just sometimes more than needed. The floor lights are only on when I intentionally shift it into 4wd,...but, come to think of it, I do not normally drive around looking at the floor.

Let me get a couple more beers in me tonight, then I'll try it. :fume:

Any body got bail $$$?

By the way, this is my next truck! :D
