Hey everyone, i have been thinking about doing the mod to my headlights that allows me to run all of them. I know awhile back somewhere i saw that this could be done for a reasonable price. I'm not really sure how to do it or where i can even buy it at. If anyone has any information regarding the mod on where its found or if you have done it on your truck please let me know!

it can be dun with $10.00 worth of parts...you will neen

[2] bosh type relays with sockits

[1] diode 1 amp. @ 50v or beter

you can get this stuff at any car audio shop...the two relays will be inserted into the curcuits going to the head lights under the hood...that will supply power to the lights from the fuse box when you turn on the headlights....as you turn on the hi beams...the low beams will stay on as well...all getting the power from the fuse box as to not over load the headlight curcuits that were only desinged to run two head lights at a time....get back to me if you need a curcuit schematic...

As much as I would like to have the fogs on with the 4 headlamps, WA state law prohibits more than 4 lights on at the front at any time on the street.

Is there any danger of current feedback thru the foglamp wiring with extra relays?? I was under the assumption that the fogs use a relay for grounding the circuit and not the hot side in order to illuminate the fogs.

More than 2 lights on at a time should be illegal everywhere. I don't get why people love to run their "fog lights" at all times of the day and night, they love doing that in southern California where we rarely ever get fog. If this trend keeps up, I'm going to have to go for some airplane landing lights.

There's no reason for all these lights on the front of the truck, only time more than 2 lights are on on the front of my truck are when I come across someone who thinks this is a great idea - someone that runs with their "fog lamps" on, someone that runs with their high beams on, someone who has their beams pointed up, or someone with illegal HIDs (illegal being none OEM since the beam pattern is different for halogen and HID).

I run as many lights on as possible because I like to see when driving at night. If you aim your headlights correctly the number of lights shouldn't have any effect on the oncoming traffic.

+1 Same here :D

For me its a safety issue,Especially since we have a lot of "back country" roads around here that are quite dark.

I drive 20 miles each way to work through prime farming/deer land. almost everyday there is a new deer dead in the ditch. I run 6-hi (fogs, lows, and highs) to protect my investment. I never have them all on whenever I can see anybody else on the road, but as soon as they've passed I flip them back on. knock on wood, haven't had a run-in yet.

plus, it's nice to have the fog lights on as soon as the headlights turn on, without having to remember to push a button. 2 diodes and $2.00, well worth it

On back country roads, that's fine, run 100 lights. It's people on the regular surface streets that do that that should be shot.

I wouldn't blind oncoming traffic,I'm getting ready to install 5000K HID's in my truck now and I'll make sure they are aimed as to not blind oncoming traffic.

My fog lights are wired completely seperate from the stock system so I can have them on whenever I want regardless of headlights running lights, etc. As for the the original post.

I'm not sure on the 04's but, from 99-01 it was a simple wire that you ground from under the electrical Panel. It took me all of about 10 minutes to do the 4 hi mod on mine and I would never switch back!!!

Yeah the main reason i want to do it is i live up north in Bemidji, MN and i regularly make the 4 hour drive home to lakeville in the middle of nowhere. Last night i smoked a wild turkey coming back to school. A big poof of feathers and that's it. Imagine though if it had been a couple hundred pound deer!

R ya a little bitter, Chris? :dunno:

I run a 4-Hi+Fogs mod on my truck, and it's for visibility. By no means should this be illegal, as long as you have them pointed correctly, there should be no discussion.

:chill:

I've done the 4 hi mod and I love it! I drive and live in prime deer land so I want as much light out ahead of me as possible! Late at night and early in the morning I will run with my "off road" lights on as well, with those on i can see the reflection of the deers eyes way out there and it gives me more time to assess the situation.
