Strange Vibration At High Speed

I recently had my 2008 Silverado tuned, and I had the 90mph governor removed. Coincidentally, as soon as I pass the 90mph mark, I begin hearing a vibration that seems to be coming from the rear end. At 95mph, it's very noticeable, and at 100mph, it becomes almost violent and I have to stop accelerating.

I figured I would bring it in to a local auto repair shop and have it looked at...but nobody will touch it. Part of that is because it's such a new truck and people are afraid of it, and partly because I'm going over the speed limit when the problem happens anyway. I brought it to the dealership, hoping they might have an idea (of course, I didn't tell them I exceeded 90mph), but the dealership is a joke.

Does anybody know wtf is going on? I've got no other mods besides the tune and aftermarket exhaust. And its not the exhaust...the dealership already tried blaming it on that. That didn't fly.

Ideas?

Yeah, it's got an "S" speed rating, which makes it good up to 112mph. I went to the dealership with a TSB that pretty much says my tires are shitty, and they still refused to replace them. They said that problem went away in 2007, even though my tire codes matched the picture. They said they couldn't do anything about it, and I would have to come back again to take a drive with the service manager and show him how it was vibrating. I can't exactly do that since the problem is beyond 90mph, at which point they most likely won't warrant my tires.

It's a damn shame; GM knows they are putting shitty tires on their vehicles. My only option is to replace them, assuming they are what is causing the vibration.

Why is it GM'S fault that your truck is viberating at a speed its not designed for? Just because it has 112 mph rated tires doesnt mean it should go that fast. Of course nobody wants to touch it as its a liability issue on them. You removed the speed limiter that GM put there so why should they fix your truck to go faster then whats it suppose to? There good on there end.

Another thing it could be is the driveshaft out of balance. At those speeds it would be very noticeable.

Oh, my bad for expecting just a little more out of GM. The least my vehicle can do is reach 100mph without vibrating to death. You may say that the speed limit is 75mph on the highway and that I should not be going that fast in the first place, but if I bought a Corvette instead, would you say the same thing? If they limited the Corvette to 90mph and it started vibrating going 95mph and they refused to fix it, it would be just as much of a bullshit situation as I am in.

I believe this site says it endorses Black Bear Performance, which is where my tune came from, so your argument has no basis here and you should probably stop defending a dealership full of crooked people.

THE BOTTOM LINE: They offer a warranty with hopes of never having to fill it, and they will make every effort not to do so.

Your talking about two differant vehicles here, 1st the Corvette is designed for higher speeds and I believe the speed limiter is set at 150mph but it doesnt mean its to be driven at those speeds on the highway. REGARDLESS: my vehicle vibrates; others don't. Something is wrong with MINE. I want the problem FIXED. It's as simple as that. Does that clear things up for you?
