Caliper Going Bad?

I've got a brake issue with my '99 S10 Blazer. It doesn't get driven much at all. I try to drive it once a month to keep the battrey charged.

 

Anyways 2 out of the last 3 times I've driven it the driver side rear brake has gotten really hot. Hot enough that you can feel the heat from 12" away.

 

How common is it for a caliper to bad? Is it more likely that the e-brake cable is getting hung up?

If I remember correctly, the rear brake on that should be a drum. Perhaps the shoes are sticking to the backing plate? I guess it is possible that a cable is hanging.

I stand corrected. I'd say your caliper sticking theory is a good one then. I was not aware they came with 4 wheel discs in 99.

Jack it up and put it on jack standswith both rear wheels off the ground. Then put er in neutral try and turn that wheel by hand. You should not feel any resistance, if you do, something is wrong. Try turning the other wheel and compare the effort required to turn ech one.
