Central North Carolina sure is a hotbed for them.  My aunt and uncle have done work in three of them, with a fourth slated to recieve their solid surface countertops.

Tour em if you can, they sure are cool.

Yes they are!!

When Junior Johnson used to own a team, they would let you go anywhere you wanted in the shop (4 building actually).  They didn't even escort you or anything, just tell you go where ever you like.  Had to watch out for 2 big dogs that roamed the place.  They had a tendency to chase people.  :D

If you have the right connections you can still do that.   :D   Back in May my uncle and I went everywhere in both the Bill Davis and Petty shops.  Sure, we had the general manager at BDR and Richard Petty's personal assistant at that shop guide us through, but each took us everywhere, engine building rooms, dyno rooms, teardown room, paint shop, fabrication shop, you name it.  It was great walking right past the signs that said "Nobody other than AUTHORIZED employees allowed past this point."  The two guys flat out told us we had no business being there, but we were safe since we didn't have a clue as to the racing technology and therefore didn't really know what we were looking at.  It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and it was just awesome.
