Autoride Shock Replacement

I have a 2002 Yukon XL w/Autoride w/95,000 miles. I beleive that the shocks need to be replaced, but I don't use

or need the Autoride. My intent was to replace them w/heavy duty shocks, but I am finding out the it is not so easy.

I have searched but not found anything relating to a solution.

I understand that I can go w/different shocks, but I will have the advisory/caution light on all the time unless I can

change the resistance to 'trick' the system. I have also been told that I should talk to someone who can re-tune

the computer, but I have been unseccessful with that.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I can tell you that a re-tune will not stop the caution light. A tune deals with how the engine runs not how the shocks are read.

As for the need for resistors, does your truck have the DIC? If not you can just swap to any other shocks and you won't get a caution light. I am speaking from experience as I removed my auto-ride shocks and put in Bilsteins just over a month ago.

To test for the caution light you can disconnect the wires that go to the shock and see if you do get any caution lights. That will help determine if you need the resistors or not.

Have a nice day.
