Front And Rear Components Installation With 2 Channel Amp

Gentlemen,

I have a Rockford Fosgate P200.2 amp that is 2ohm stable. I plan on replacing the front and rear door speakers with 4 ohm components. My question is if I wire the left and right channels parallel changing the impendance to 2 ohm; Would this be better than using a 400 rms amp with 4 channels and keeping the impendance at 4ohm? Or would it make much difference?

My single 12" sub will be on another P300.1 amp.

Thanks in advance,

when you are talking about running parallel left and right, do you mean on two channels or one, because you will lose stereo sound if you do it the way I think you are talking about...If I read that right..

No, I would run the leftside front and rear parrallel as well as the rightside front and rear. Just like changing a DVC woofer 4 ohm to 2 ohm but do it with the components each side.

Since I posted this I have done a litttle more research and it seems I would get the power I need 100rms to power the components with the smaller two channel amp wiring the speakers in 2 ohm in lieu of 4 anyway. What I would lose would be the fader front to back.

One more question: Are the stock tweeters wired to the door speakers or tied in somewhere else in the channel?

Thanks for you response Kris,
