Front End Noise

Question

From all the reading I've done it sounds like the clunking noise I have coming from the front end of my 04 Suburban is most likely that the upper intermediate steering shaft needs replacing. I purchased a new part from NAPA and after looking at the installation instructions from this web site, it's calling for an anti-rotation pin when servicing. Can I just use a small screw driver or nail set which is tight in the hole instead of purchasing this additional tool. Thanks so much. Russ

No special tool is needed, Just be careful and don't turn the steering wheel with the I shaft disc. you cpuld break the SIR coil. just place a bungie cord from steering wheel to b pillar mounted dood latch and you'll be ok. You might have to remove the ATC throttle control, no big deal.
