Pretty interesting.

-----------------------

Gordon vs Petty before 30 years of age: Jeff Gordon, who turned 30 Saturday, has 56 career victories — 55(in 277 starts) before the age of 30. Richard Petty had 56(in 332 starts) career wins before the age of 30(USA Today). Petty had one Winston Cup Championship before the age of 30 and won it in 1967 when he turned 30. Gordon had 3 championships before 30 and is currently leading the points. Dale Earnhardt had 8 wins and one Championship before he turned 30 in 1981(8-7-2001)

I believe if Gordon can keep it up he will be the second in most wins.  I don't think he will ever pass Petty.  They use to race over 40 races a year.  As the championship goes, I have no idea.  It's harder to win a championship now.  All I can say is..........GO GORDON

The same way you can hate Gordon.  I use to be a big Petty fan.  My moms old boss knew Richard personaly.   I got a few autographs from him.  This was years ago and have lost them now.  But I don't care for him like I use to.  His son is a disgrace to the Petty name.

My dad worked for the Petty's from 1970-1974. They were a family operation and it didn't matter if your name was Petty or not you were a part of the family. I agree that Kyle dresses a little strange and I don't care for the ear rings. But Kyle has just as big a heart as his dad. He is the first to help those less fortunate than himself. He does this publicly with his Charity Ride Across America and with his support of the Hole In The Wall childrens camps. Whether Kyle ever wins another race or not or whether or not he returns Petty Enterprises to their former glory is not nearly as important as what he uses his fame to accomplishment. Kyle, Patty, Richard and Linda are shining examples of what we should all strive to be. Sure they have their faults and some have been very public. But very few families have been in the spotlight as long as they have without having multiple skeletons dragged out of the closet. It is a credit to their character that they have remained true to their roots. Instead of being a hired gun that moves to Florida to avoid income taxes and to be inaccessible to the, overzealous at times, fans in North Carolina. George Elliott used to say if they could do a tenth for the sport what the Petty's have we will have a good career and a good life. Dale Jarrett will tell that Richard is the reason Nascar has the fan base it enjoys today because he sat and autographs for hours on end. He always made time for the media, even when he had a bad day. He realized they had a job to do also that would help him in the long run, by exposing Nascar to a larger market. He is the reason Nascar is on the level they are now. He had a lot of help getting it there but he was as much the driving force as the France family was. If you don't have a personable star you don't have a show to sell.

I'm sure some won't agree but I have the benefit of knowing what kind of people the entire family are.

I was gonna chime in with how I don't care for Kyle, but I don't think he is a disgrace.  But After that I don't think I need to.  Someone who knows them personally can give a much better argument, I'll just offer my support to that argument.

And say, I hope Gordon doesn't beat either record.  Especially the championships.

I do agree that Kyle has a HUGE heart.  I'm only talking about his driving.  Is that truck of Adam's the one that Kyle starts onece a week and drives it to the barn and back.  I saw an interview when he was talking about Adam's truck.
