Other Amp Location!

Ok so LOOONG day. Removed all seats and carpet,vents,ect.... Cleaned up the carpet. I was going to insatall the JL 500/1 and cap to rear cab wall but. After lookin at every thing it is way better to mount amp in center console. Fit perfect. I wish I had pics but it was made to fit. Mounting tap on amp fit right over the the factory stud and the other side had a screw into the plastic vent tab.

With the access panels removed from the center console I can adjust the amp settings. I am all about a hard to steal system.

I have mounted JL amps there in Escalade SUV. It was a 5 channel. But in a silverado a 500/1 fits perfect.

Many may say drinks that overspill will drip to the amp! But the console covers the amp!

If needed I can poat pics. Sorry I only work this hard with a 24case of BUD LIGHT. so I a drunk..

I wish I had taken pics with the console out. But was running out of day light. I have box seats to the Pistons today with free food and drinks. So when I get back I can get pics of the sides access panels removed and pics of the cup holder tray removed.

I could have fit the cap in there but wanted the amp as far to the dash as I could to access the settings. I have a 2 battery isolated setup. Also I wanted as much air flow as I could get. This amp was in my TBSS rear center floor trunk. and had less than 1" of air around it and never overheated so I am not worried at all.

I was going to ask about heat...But sounds like you've got a cool running amp.

I had a Fosgate 700 in that little compartment in the back of my TBSS and it overheated all the time (until I replaced it with a better unit).

I had that same 700 plus a 500 behind the rear seat on my '02 Z71, and never had heat problems once.

Now I want to see pics of this install

Ok I got installed pics. Again wish I would have pics pre-center console. I don't like the way the amp is bolted to the metal stud. So I will cut a a strip of wood bolt it to the stock studs and then screw the amp down to that. Super easy and fast. But I am so busy.

Can't post forum broken Help please!

Ever mounted an amp in a suburban? I'm trying to figure out where to mount two amps in a suburban, but not under the second row seats because thats where my woofers will go. I want the whole cargo area clear as well, as I often use it to haul stuff, road trips, etc. Otherwise the amps would go under the rear seats and a woofer box would sit in the rear cargo area. I need some ideas......

Center console in my Escalade '04 was big. I removed the bose sub and installed 4 electric boxes like the flip screen processor, rear screen brains, ect... but on the truck if the vents are in the center console you will give up like 3" on the driver side as the vent runns there.

If you haven't bought amps there go PDX and mount in the fast rear side panel lots of room. We did a suburban for Pioneer demo that had 2 amps and a sub box on that side. It has the factory sub on the drives side?

Also did a Alpine Exped. and had 3 PDX amps stacked up and in the center console under the lid where the cargo goes. Very nice as it put the setting right there. But it was a show truck with 20K+ in audio. F1 is expensive.

depnds on what year ur truck is i know 2001 gmc sierrra the jl 500/1 fits perfect under the driverside back seat with. along with with 2 10inch w-3s in a massive bassworks ported box made for 12s customized for 10s. it made my ears bleed no lie. when u open the doors you can watch and hear the roof bounce its retarded. i know it will jump a full beer bottle off the roof lol.

Inside the rear door. I've seen subs mounted there, so you know there's enough room for amps. Have to mount them pretty robustly though

I have mine mounted in the same place also. Mine isn't as pretty as yours but I managed to get a RF t1000bd and a RF 400.2 in there. It is tight but they are in there and seem to be working fine so far.
