Question About Cold Air Intakes On A V6

Hey guys, I have an 08 Sierra Reg Cab 4.3 V6 .. I was rading up on the CAI .. Was looking for opinions .. Would it be worth it to upgrade my CAI on a V6 engine?? I've heard they help when you get to the higher RPM's .. I drive mostly city miles .. Wondering if a nice CAI would help my engine / horsepower when hitting the gas with the heavy foot from say 0 to 40 mph .. Thanks

Save your money and get something else for the truck. You truck already has a CAI just not as fancy as the ones you buy, you wont see nothing as far as gains just a little more noise under full throttle thats it.

Ok, yeah I definitly don't need any more noise haha, I already have dual flowmaster 40 series pipes that are plenty loud

No, but a good tune would.

Sure you can. I've got a tune on my V6 truck.

Can you school me a little, whats a tune do for ya? you notice any major differences before and after the tune with you V6? thanks

Well for me, it corrected my speedo and shift points, as going from a short tire to a tall one borked all that up. So it now runs and shifts like a factory 2x4 stripped down truck with the 4.3 should run, plus a little :D. But he also did the little tricks tuners do, and played with the fuel/timing/etc and got a hair more power as well as firmed up the shifts.

Since he's a local guy, and it's an older truck (don't have to buy credits/tokens for HPTuners for a 2001), it was only like $70 or so. Yours will probably cost triple that :)
