Abs Module Bleeding Question (again)

I'm getting conflicting stories on how to get the air out of the brake system and ABS. Some guys say just bleed as you would normally and others say that the ABS has to be cycled with a tool. The system I have is a Kelsey-Hayes. It has a nipple/valve thing near the top of the unit. When the brakes are applied, the little "rod" inside pushes against the black rubber cover on the nipple/valve thing. If I hold the little rod in with a screwdriver and the brakes are applied...fluid then comes out. I am assuming that this is a bleeding valve?!

 

When I call several auto brake shops...most don't know what I'm talking about when I mention the tool to cycle or "toggle" the ABS module.

 

Can someone clear this up for me?

Sorry I forgot to mention...its a 1995 GMC Suburban (5.7 litre-350 CID) K1500...

I am not 100% sure on a 95 but if there is an abs module and air is in it then you need a "tool" it is the tech 2 that GM mechanics use, I would guess that any shop that does brakes would have a simialar(sp) type of tool to do it. hope this helps

The GM Tech-2 is needed to actually run the ABS pump to get fluid thru it for flushing and bleeding. There are probably similar scan tools like ones from Snap-On, Mac or others that will do the same thing. Seems to me that a competent shop that specializes in brake work would have a tool to bleed an ABS pump.
