Little Project Over Last Weekend

Got a great deal on a headrest system when Circuit City was going out, but it only came with the faux leather covers that had really ugly zippers around the front. Since my new truck has cloth I ordered some matching fabric from Detroit Book and my step-mother made some covers to put on. Install was really easy, the covers where a lot of work but I think it was worth it. What do ya'll think??

Nicely done. I'm not going to tell you how much the local audio shop charged me! Looks great. These things are a real life save on long trips with the kids.

So what do you drive them with? DVD player for both units or 2 separate DVD players? I'm on the fence with these, I think entertaining your kids is a great thing for those dark rainy trips but, for those daytime sunny days you can't beat looking out the window.

This model has one DVD player that drives them both, I put that screen on the passenger side, that's where the oldest sits so he can change it easier. I agree with you on entertaing the kids, I've had screens in my last few vehicles and once the newness wears off, they mainly use them on trips. Steve is right about being a life saver on trips though!

Sweet Install!

It looks factory... You'd never know it didn't come that way.

Thanks for the heads up about Detroit Book. That place looks promising.

Thanks! There was a little trial and error on getting the covers to fit just right but I'm really happy with them. Yeah, most of your local upholstery shops can order from Detroit Book, they have the just about every OEM material there is. (at least American made, not sure bout the imports...).

Looks great! What is "Detroit Book"? Sounds like a book store?

Here's their website

Detroit Book

They basically supply most upholstery shops with OEM matching body cloth. If you want a perfect match to any of your upholstery they are the place to order from. I found out you can only buy from them if you are local, so I ordered mine from a shop in California (they gave me a better price than my local shop). They put out a book each year with all of their automotive samples and it's called the Detroit Book. If anyone wants the code for the ebony let me know and I will post it when I get home tonight.

Looks good!

And +1 on them helping on long trips with kids. But I bought mine a portable DVD player for $120 and it not only keeps her occupied in the truck on long trips, but also the car, hotel, waiting time at dance competitions (both my daughters are competitive dancers) and any other time where waiting is required.

Best $120 I have ever spent!

Love the install. I have the factory DVD screen. It blocks the rearview mirror. Headrest monitors make much more sen$e. DVD is not for the kids, it’s peace for the driver. I had the front windows tinted to match the back. They misunderstood and tinted the back too. Originally thought it was too dark. Driving north, south at dusk, the kids never complain. Which helps my ears.

My wife talks a lot....maybe a monitor in the front too...

or some wife blocking headphones for me...
