Recommended Posts

I have heard twenty different things of what i should or should not do and would like it if someone here who had the bose setup and replaced with a aftermarket setup what is needed? I do not have the cash to replace everything at once and would like to first replace the head unit with a nice pioneer double din nav unti that new egg has for under 500 bucks http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16882117257. I have heard something about a adapter plug but would like to know if the original speakers can be used? Eventually i will be doing a sub and amp but with the radio costing 500 alone i can only swing that and maybe the adapter at first but it will not sound good if the speakers wont work. :D

you need the adapters to keep chimes, onstar and what not, at least in my 03 all we did was put the adapter in, and the wiring harness and the radio and kept my stock bose speakers, that I need to replace now due to the drivers side front being blown and sounding generally like chit!

You should check out the Kenwood DNX5120 same price range and I think is a better unit. The GPS system is a true Garmin unit built into the HU.

Well it is a all or nothing deal. OS-1 for non bose or aftermarket system but keep onstar,chimes,ect... And OS-1BOSE for BOSE,onstar,chimes,ect....

And the adapters are a little $$$$. So I would wait it out. Or buy radio and speakers then the OS-1 and hardwire the radio right to the new speakers. This would bypass the Bose amp and speaker and up the audio with cleaner and power. then wait on amps and wires.

OS-1 is MUCH cheaper than the OS-1BOSE. I think I have one around here as I saw it a few days ago.
