Head Light Out?

So I had my truck at the dealership this tuesday for Maintaince II and this morining I noticed the dirviers side headlight is out. Is it normal to burn a bulb out this early on these new trucks? To be honest I never had to replace a headlight bulb on my last 2 vehicals (00 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 05 F150). Whats up

nope, not unless you drive exclusively at night...I would replace both headlights if the drvier's is out already.

HMMM, about 98% of my driving is in the day time. Take it back to the dealer? Will this be covered by Warranty? If not I'll just by a bulb at Autozone and do it myself.

Yeah, it would be covered by warranty (mine was) but I would simply go to the parts store and replace both...shouldnt be more than $20 to do it yourself...though I have heard that the GMT900 headlight housing can be a PITA...

I'd let the dealer fix it. Warranty should cover it and NO it is not really normal for them to fail so soon but a bulb is an outsourced item... It might have just been a bad one. It happens.

Bulbs are only covered for 12 months or 12,000 miles. That's what the dealer told me when I had a headlight bulb go out. The next thing they told me was the labor charge was $55 to change one bulb, $110 labor for both bulbs. No thanks.

damn, those bulbs better have a LIFETIME warranty for that kind of money (yeah only in my dreams)...

It's just a bulb. I have bulbs just laying in the garage. Just take the 3 minutes and do it yourself!

Nope not panty-waisted at all.....Unfourtunatly I live in Downtown Dallas Texas (first time livin in the big city ), and there is absolutly nowhere to work on my truck..Parking garage is way to dark....Belive you me, when I am done taking all the $$$$ out of the big city I can, it's back to the Ranch for me!

Could be a faulty bulb, but remember even when driving during the day, the headlights are on at a lower power for the daytime running rights.

Your right, I didn't think about that. Just thought the bulbs would have lasted much longer than they did.

Good to know! Last time I worked on a truck it was my 1982 Custom Deluxe. You could pull out/replace bulbs in a flash. You could even work on the heads while sitting on the inside fender well! Ahhh the good old days...
