Max Oil Pressure 2005 Suburban

Oil pressure switch at 0 when key is off. When key is turned to run position (engine off), pressure gauge moves to max (80+ psi). When engine is started, oil pressure drops and then returns to max. No movement on oil pressure when truck is driven - stays at max. Bad oil sending unit, gauges, or short in wiring? Thanks.

I think my '05 2500 (6.0) runs 40 psi or so at speed hot. I think 60 is about as high as I have seen. I have heard a lot about the gauges going bad, and would bet there first. You should be able to measure the sensor output, but may have to search around, or get a manual to be able to test it.

Lots of info out there regarding bad stepper motors and how to fix. Someone with a scan tool should be able to plug in and tell you exactly what the computer is reading.
