Ipod Interface/adapter?

I have a 2003 GMC Sierra with factory headunit. I have a "CD/Aux" button, but no CD changer.

My question is: what are my options for iPod interface/adapter that will plug and play into my factory headunit? I've so far looked at Peripheral, but am a little confused as to what will work, and what extras (harness, etc) that I'll need to make this work...

If possible, I'd like to be able to control the iPod with my steering wheel controls, and I'd like text display on the head unit.

Does that display any text on your head unit?

Nope but I have the Ipod in a holder right there so I can see whats playing. Most of the time I don't even look at it.

This is the best set up for the $ I have it...It took about 30 to 45 mins to set up...and it works great!

Let me know if you have any other questions...there is a model for each GM Truck.

It will also let you control it from your factory head unit and see what songs are playing. Your head unit will act as your ipod controls.

The link i sent you....there is a model that will display the text...check out there home web-site for more info on it...but i am pretty sure it will..

I have a metra/axxess unit in my 2003 Sierra HD. I also have a similar radio to yours (I have the cassette player and CD), but I do not have XM nor do I have a CD changer. I have steering wheel radio controls that control some of the features of the ipod with this adapter.

Text IS displayed, and you have playlist access, although playlist names don't show up on the radio display...only song or track number or artist. Each is available with the push of the info button, and the default selection is selectible by you. You can set up shuffle, repeat all or repeat playlist, etc from the radio buttons, too. Except to add Christmas music to the Ipod for a family trip in December, I can't remember the last time I saw my ipod (it's in the glovebox).

This interface isn't perfect and the install instructions suck (there are 2 set-up modes and it was more trial and error than anything for me), but it's pretty available, and not too expensive on ebay.

Do you happen to know the model number of your interface/adapter? I looked on eBay, and the one that come up says it "control of ipod is with the ipod, not vehicle's radio buttons" and it doesn't say anything about text. Let me know if you have the number. Thanks!

I'm about 99.9% sure it's a GMIP-01. Like I said, the instrutions suck, so it doens't suprize me that they don't do a good job talking features, either. But, the thing works OK, so if they're still cheap on ebay, I'd recommend giving it a try....
