"xm Capable"?

All these iPod adapters/interfaces that I'm researching say that artist and song name text display is possible with "XM-Capable radios". My question is, is my radio (see pic below) considered "XM Capable"?

 

I know it is "Text capable", as it already displays text for local radio stations, etc. Anybody know if iPod text shows up on these radios?

I looked at my radio today on the way in and aside from having the tape deck mine looks exactly like your picture. There is no indication on mine that it is XM capable even though I currently have XM reception.

 

I think the difference may be the plugs on the back end as the radio controls the XM reciever supposedly mounted behind the glove box. Can you get a good clear photo of the back?

My 2003 did NOT have XM nor OnStar. It was similar to yours except for mine had the tape deck as well. My radio had an empty plug on the back of the radio that I think XM or the 6-disk CD changer option plugged in to if you had either. It was a pretty big plug and when looking at the back of the radio, it was on the left side (top corner IIRC).

 

The ipod adapter I have literally plugged in to that hole, then I hooked up power (from cig lighter below radio), strapped stuff down and plugged in the ipod and voilla..... (ok, there was some dorking around with either cutting or not cutting a wire in the adapter harness to make the adapter work in one mode or another and the instructions did a LOUSY job of explaining why you would or would not want to do this).

 

My guess...If you have the empty plug I mentioned and since you get the radio station text, you should be OK.

yeah, the 2003+ radios are CD changer compatible. They are also XM compatible, though you may need an adapter. That is the exact same radio that is in my truck. I have not been able to get the Nano's text to scroll. Hell, it has even been hard for the XM/Sirius system to scroll the text. Most of the time, it will simply say what station it is on and then once in a while scroll the text of whatever is available.
