Aftermarket Radio

I have a 2004 GMC Sierra Ext. Cab, It has the 6 CD Changer w/XM and Bose and Onstar

I am looking at replacing the deck with an aftermarket one. ONe question I am unclear on is whether The aftermarket radio will use the existing XM antenna in the truck? .

 

I believe I need to get an adapter for the Bose system to work. IS this Correct?

 

Is there any other adapters I will need?

you need an adapter for the bose

and you need an adapter if you have controls on wheel (only if you want to keep it)

I know the onstar one is pretty pricy not sure about xm bc i didnt get it put on and i plan on doing the wheel controls when i get home. I was told the wheel one was only about 55 but I want to say the onstar was around 100+ if I remember correct.

have fun replacing the head unit in that thing it sure isnt cheap, the cost of the deck than the cost of all the extra stuff youll need for the features already on the truck, like the steering wheel controls.

You are looking for a pac adapter http://www.crutchfield.com/g_118900/Steeri...rs.html?tp=3405 for the steering controls, and you will need to buy a adapter for the harness which will retain onstar,and your bose speakers including the sub and for your chimes http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120GMOS04/GM-...er.html?tp=3486.

 

Make sure you check and order the right ones, I'm almost positive these are the ones i posted, but double check. I just put a pioneer nav unit in-place of the stock setup and everything seems to work good. Not sure what it takes for xm as the ipod setup the pioneer has makes me have 0 need to pay for radio.

I have the touchscreen nav package in my 05 sierra denali but have had to replace the DVD drive in it 2 times and now discovered that I can not even get a new map DVD as the newer DVD's will not play on my unit.

 

I replaced everything!

New Kenwood NAV sterio system

PAC steering wheel controls adapter

GM module for onstar and door chimes etc

GM connectors adapters

All for about 1100.00

 

Now I only have one problem left that I did not forsee------I cant use my CD changer and cant find the necessary connector/adapter to convert it to standard RCA connectors for a standard pre-amp input.....
