Transmission Repaired

Transmission broke.... wouldn't shift into 3rd gear. Dealer fixed input shaft, pump, cover, and reconditioned clutch, all under warranty. Dont know much about transmissions and was wonderin if there maybe anything to be concerned about regarding the repair that was done, or future problems to watch out for. Google didn't give me much info on these parts/function.

They got it back to me pretty quick, out for 2 days waiting on the part to be sent. Galles here in Albuquerque did the work. I've been pretty happy with their service in the past. Thanks

Glad to hear it's fixed back up. Any ideas on what caused it to break? Was it working hard when it let go?

Naw, havn't worked it hard at all. I'm generally pretty easy going on it, no towing at all. I just noticed the problem with the shift failing after gettin it out on the highway from work. No noise like it was lettting go, or sounds from it, 'cept the shudder from the gear/speed difference when it couldn't find the correct gear.

Dunno what may cause the problem, unless it's just cheap or defective parts. Like I mentioned, don't know much at all about transmissions, so wasn't clear on what those parts replaced/repaired were being effected by.

Yeah, that's definitely kinda odd. Guess it was just some defective part as you mentioned. Hopefully its good to go now

Had a complete rebuild on the tranny on my 07 at 11,000 miles. No tune, no abuse, just a loud clank one day and I wasn't going anywhere. The words from the Mechanic when he pulled it down and started looking: "What a mess..."

Yikes, mine is about to hit 11,000 miles. So far everything seems good though.

Sounds like you had some bad parts as I haven't really heard of anyone else having those issues.

I'd say it was just a "one chance in a million" part failure. It sucks but it does happen. Most are having quite good luck with these transmissions and GM has been building them for a number of years.

I'd bet the trouble is behind you.
