Crazy Guage Problems-help!

I have a 89 K1500. I was on my way home from a fishing trip today and about half-way home my speedo quit working then my brake light came on. I thumped the dash a little with my hand and the speedo started working again but now my brake light is flashing. It flashes 9 times then steady, then 9 times again and never stops that pattern. Can you guys please help me? What is going on with my truck?

I don't know on an 89 if the flashing light is alerting you to a code or not... Possibly a speed sensor or simply a bad connection behind the cluster. Those trucks used a strange Mylar printed film that carried all of the signals. Simply unplugging it and reconnecting might fix it.

I will try that tomorrow. Thanks for your help, i dont know what i would do without this forum. HA HA. Does anyone know if a cluster out of a 92-94 or so would plug in to my dash harness. I think i like the needle guages better than mine. Thanks again.
