Odb Ii Code Reader

Hey guys, my check engine light came on. I'm pretty sure its the O2 sensor but its a good reason to buy a code reader. Also, my wifes Service Airbag light comes on randomly and never when I'm near the dealer.

 

Any advice on which one to buy? Looking around I seem to have narrowed it down to an Equus or the ElmScan 5 which hooks up to a laptop. I'd like to stay around $150 but can be convinced to go higher.

How about a ScanGaugeII? That way you get a code reader, a trip computer and extra gauges for your vehicles...

I bought a cheapie off of ebay for 35-40 bucks. It had pretty good functionality, but it was exactly that...built cheap. But honestly, for something that you'll only use a couple times a year why spend more than that?

If all you are going to do is check your codes if and when you get one, don't spend the money just go to AutoZone or Advanced. They will read and reset the codes for free.

 

If you are planning on using it for other things you will need an expensive one.
