How Do I Get The Emergency Brake Cable Back On?

This is an 06 Sierra 1500 4X, I pryed off the e-brake cable to get the old shoes out now I can't get enough slack in the cable to get it in the new shoes. Do I loosen the adjuster on the e-brake cable or is there some other trick?

I figured it out by disconnecting the cable where it goes two to one, the job was a piece of cake after that. Thanks.
