06 Sierra Upgrade

Well I have an 06 GMC Sierra, plain jane regular cab with am and FM radio only with 4 speakers. After reading through as much as I care to, I take it I have nothing to loose and everything to gain. My needs are basic I just want a CD player and front usb capability. I made a selection of components and want to know what y'all think. Also if you have any pointers or tips you'd like to share please do. I'm not scared of working on the truck, but clues to help breaking plastic parts are appreciated.

I wasn't planning on using an amp, I don't need massive sound just something to reduce the boredom on trips. You think I need an amp?

I'd recommend it, the Bose amp was designed for the Bose speakers. I wouldn't get anything too big.

I thought since it was the baseline model with only an am/fm stereo (no Bose markings anywhere) that there wasnt an amp in the system.

Sorry, I thought I read Bose somewhere, must have been another post. In any event, I'd still recommend amping those.

I totally agree with stadt11 in regards to amping those speakers. You may not want to do it right now because of the extra work or money, but it would be an enormous difference from just doing the speakers. You will get a little added volume by only adding the speakers, but as you turn up the volume there will be a point where you will just get distortion. I tried this with the Polk component set I bought and added an amp within 2 weeks because I just wasn't satisfied. Now they sound incredible! Just my opinion.
