Tire Size ?

I have an 08 Silverado 4x4. I want go up from 265/65/18 to a 265/70/18. There are more tire options to choose from. Will I mess anything up by doing this? Thanx in advance.

I don't think anything bad will happen, doubt you will have any rubbing. Only thing that will be "messed up" is your speedometer, and that is going to be insignificant.

 

When your speedometer reads 60 mph your actual speed is 62 mph.

I tried the tire calculator at www.1010tires.com

 

I was thinking about the same tires. When I plugged in the OEM size of 265/65/18 and the new 265/70/18 I got a warning box that told me that any change more than 3% of tire diameter could result in brake failure.

 

The difference between those two tires is only 3.2%

 

The OEM size 265/65/18 = Actual Speed - 60mph

The new size 265/70/18 = Speedometer - 58mph

 

I can't see how such a slight change would mess up the braking system and cause "failure"

Probably a generic safety message meaning the stock brakes aren't designed for larger sized tires and that they do not have enough stopping power. Perhaps on cars this is more of a concern. To go up the size you are looking at, definitely not a problem.

That's because you have to go through 8 things first to get to what you actually want.

O hell you shouldnt screw anything up, I went from a 265/70/17 to a 305/65/17 which is the same jump as you would like to make, all I had to do is trim some of my plastic because mine are 12 inches wide.... you should be alright
