What happened to races being 500 or 400 in WC?

I'm wondering how you can get 499 on a 2.66 mile track....

2.66 * 188 laps = 500.08 miles

I think the 499 thing has to do with Aarons being the race sponsor.

They advertise some deal on TV where everything they rent-out is $99 a month. And I guess they wanted that to be seen.

Oh well, if Lowes has the right to name a popular Race Track after them, and then punish anyone they hear calling the track other than "Lowe's motor speedway", then I guess it's alright for Aaron's to dictate the "Advertised distance" on a race theysponsor.

Yeah, I guess it's alright....I was just confused.

I though maybe they were going to drop the green after the driver on the pole went one mile past the start/finish line.

I finally heard why it's called this. The head of the company was being interviewed on MRN Radio during the race on my way back to scool. 499 actually stands for "For $99". At Aaron's you get everything "For $99" a month.
