Does anyone know how to take off the mirror caps with out messing them up

Small, small flathead around the outside of the cap and it will separate and pop off. The clips in the front seem to be the hardest to get off without snapping atleast one. Some suggest that taking the whole assembly apart is easy too.

I took a large screwdriver too and pryed 'em off. I broke the front one on each side tho

Chalk up another one to broken clips... Wish I could offer more help, but it's tough to get those things off without breaking a clip... I can see where taking the bottom part of the assembly off (directly beneath the cap) would be helpful... Nevertheless, I didn't do that... Good luck...

I have had mine off 3 times now and zero broken clips. And YES, remove the entire rear housing and then remove the upper cap. The rear housing snaps off very easily, just be careful.

That is exactly how I took mine off. Done it multiple times and haven't broken any clips.

Are you sure? Thats got to be the first time I saw that.

I read, I listened, I did..no broken clips. Once it is off you can see why removing just the top half could lead to broken clips.
