New Gauge Cluster Installed

I finally got all the parts and pieces together to change my gauge cluster face and install LED's for cluster illumination. I ordered the gauge cluster from jegs, it is a Simco Ltd with white face and chrome bezels. I like the looks of the white face I don't like the fact that the Simco logo is splashed all over, but what the heck. The LED conversion went pretty smooth, once I got the cluster stripped down and cut the old lights out, there was no turning back at that point. I had read "reiling3's" thread on how he did his so I was full of confidence, or maybe crap. Anyway, the "pucker factor" didn't really get too high until it was time to put the gauge needles back on. I just knew I would end up breaking something as hard as I was pushing on those damn needles, but it all worked out.

 

The gauge face is white in daylight and goes to a black color at night, the LED's give the numbers a slight blue tint. I like it, but I can tell you that that will be last time I pull those damn needles off of the gauges. Sorry but I could only get a couple of pics uploaded, I'll try to get a night shot sometime this weekend when I get home.

Looking good, I like those white faces...You'll have to post some night time pics if you get a chance, bet the blue looks cool at night.

Thanks Travis, yeah the blue is kind of cool looking. But it does clash with the other green and white lights in the cab at night. I'm not sure if I will replace more with LED's or not yet.

Thanks I read your how to thread about a dozen times before I started to make sure I didn't screw something up. I had one F-up but noticed it before it was too late. I soldered one of the resistors and leds in reverse polarity, just unsoldered it and spun it around.

you thought about getting maybe white needles? i think it would add a little more flair to the already great look!
