One Strong Sierra Denali

Im new to this forum but not to GM trucks, i have worked in a CHEV \ GMC store for 12yrs. This is my 1st post but i have been looking around here for a while, kind of taking it all in, and decided to tell you guys about my personal truck. She is a 2007 nbs GMC Sierra Denali 2wd, and without question one of the best trucks GM has ever offered, not perfect but a damn soild truck, of course i could not leave well enough alone. :) the reason for the post as the title mentions this is ONE STRONG DENALI!!! check out my sig. for the mods. and as a group man what a difference i have a g-tech ss ordered to get some hard facts for everyone but seat of the pants it is impressive. Well the other day a new 09 sierra denali i ordered for inventory came in and after the PDI i was itching to get a little side by side comparison with my truck!!! OMG by the end of 3rd gear "which in my truck is around 100mph" it had to be at least 8 to 10 truck links ahead and i hazed the tires pretty good out of the hole, of coures the 09 barely broke loose "damn tm" anyway just wanted to introduce myself and give some info hopefully everyone can benefit from and if you have any questions about options, pricing and incentives i would be glad to help out if i can.

Welcome to the site.

thanks, i will as soon as it stops raining and i can take a few pics. I asume you are talking about the ecm and tcm which was done by a local race shop that is a dealer for Lyndon Wester who's tunes we used as a great starting point and fine tuned everything from there , air\fuel timing and shift points and lowering tm and raising the rev limit to 6200 rpms and firmness of the shifts. Let me tell you that 6 speed trans will rock once it is tuned, but the tcm is in the valve body so really the only way to tune it is one site.

PICS dammit !

:)

and WELCOME !

I would also be interested in your tuning info.... I mean what they did specifically (timing advance (how much), TM settings, etc..)

Sounds pretty nasty...

I have a custom tune that I pushed via my predator and it makes the 5.3 pretty lively. Many folks here pay big compliments to BlackBear, and, I thus assume that they do a fantastic job as well.

Westers is a great tuner!... Wish I had local access to him.

Congrats!

I don't have the graphs in front of me at the moment the shop i use has all the details saved on there computers. I can tell you the other mods had the trucks air\fuel ratios all screwed up when we data loged it and getting that worked out made a big diff. and cleaned up the Corsa tips lol as far as the timing it westers 91 curve and it works great great no ping but like i stated before the tuning on that new 6speed really woke the truck up i do know the tm is 80% removed and shift frimness is increased above 3\4 throttle and hits pretty damn hard at wot and she pulls to redline of 6200 in every gear and will lay two nice black marks when hitting 2nd gear :D which the 3:73 and that low 1st gaer have a ton to do with that and it is still raining here :) i will post pics asap even with dirty i promise

Post all the dirty pics you want... :)

Interesting... I have help MANY folks remove things like crapatelli mass air flow sensors and such that no nothing but trick the pooter with false air flow readings to get richer.... LOL. Hard to convince them they were tearing up their engine with that voodoo.

Mine has an "on the edge" 93+/94- curve as I can still get 94 Octane in this area (Sunoco). I don't like the SUnoco much in the winter as they spike up the Ethanol a little bit on the winter blend. Every now and then I run 93 and check for knock retard to make sure that 93 is really 93 and I am not getting a lot of KR to keep it all safe. So far so good. CAI + tune + exhaust = fun.

In the end, for HP, timing is everything, meaning that octane allows you to get the most. Timing is your friend...I have the ECM TM pulled back, but chose to leave the TCM side alone. It shifts nice (not like it was before like sliding down a muddy slope) but won't leave service bars when it shifts. I also have the pre-shift / post shift timing retard dialed way back. Have the Torque Braking protection turned to "off". I don't do that to my rig much, but sometimes it's fun to wag your tail a little bit just to make a point... :P

You have a way to log and dial in your fuel trims with your tune, or is it all "hard-wired"? I generally do that with each change of seasons when the temps start changing.

Loads of fun and amusment...
