Has anyone took a sandblaster to the underside of your truck (or any vehicle for that matter)?

I've found a 2000 Silverado that's for sale, but I can almost guarantee without seeing it that the frame will be spooky. If I got the truck cheap enough, would sandblasting, painting then undercoating be a smart thing to do? Or should I just take a wire brush to it and then undercoat?

Looking for some opinions/advice here.

Keep in mind, I'm in Ontario (winter salt heaven).

I was given a F150 for free from my neighbor that was previously used on the beach. the frame was terrible. I used POR15 which has you scrape down the frame, apply a spray that will chemically change the rust, and then you apply the undercoating.

After three years of PA salt it is still looking good!

If I had to do it again I would either use POR15 or just buy a truck with less rust. But then again FREE is always nice too.

Good luck.

Interesting. I've never heard of POR15, but it sounds good. I'll check it out. It'll be a lot cheaper than renting (or buying) a sandblaster and material.

if you do it right, it will last forever. but I would look around at some other products that do the same thing. see what else is out there and then make a decision. I know it worked for me, good luck.
