Subthump Box ?

What are the advantages or disadvantages or a downfiring box such as subthumps? I have read that a lot ya'll up here are very happy with your subthump boxes. I just have never heard a downfiring box in person. I guess in my little head it just seems to make more sense to have them facing up. But what do I know?

They wouldn't fit under the rear seats any other way, to my knowledge. Thus, downfiring!
