Equalizer Presets Keep Changing

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I have a 2005 Silverado SL, with the basic GM cd player. I installed My little Jensen amp and a couple little 8" speakers. I installed a line converter to change the high level to the rear speakers to a low level sub input and grabbed switched power from the fuse box for the trigger wire for tha amp.

Now every time I change the radio station, my exualizer presets get messed up. The base goes almost all the way up and the mid and treb go to the middle of their range. I got no ideas. All I did to the radio itself was pull it out for a sec and probe the wires.

Is it possible my line converter is messing things up?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Are you talking about the custom settings you set within the radio's EQ? What LOC do you have? Maybe when you probed wires you shorted something out

I'd pull out the radio, unplug all connectors, & plug them back in, maybe something is loose.

You're LOC wouldn't have anything to do with it if you hooked it up right, but if you happened to connect it to a power/remote/ground wire on the radio's connector, I could see a possibility of that being your problem.

Yes, its the bass, mid and treble settings within the factory deck. I got the LOC from my buddy in the install dept at Best Buy. It says IEC AULOC on the package and its from InstallEdge.com apparently according, to the package. I tapped into my rear speaker wires by the back seat so I know I have the right wires cause at that part of the wire loom only the rear speaker wires are left. I think I might move it to behind the dash though cause Im picking up a LITTLE feedback from the engine.

I guess I could have done something when I probed the wires, but I sharpened my probe so it makes the smallest hole possible in the wire and I dont have to use a lot of force to get throught the wire sheath. Really hurts when you stick your finger though.

Maybe theres a loose pin in the connector or something. But the weird part is it dosnt reset when you shut the truck off, only when you change the radio station. The amp and speaker s work fine too, my gain is still turned up a little high, but thats irrevalent,

Anyway, thanks for the ideas/reply. Ill look into the possibility of a loose connection behind the deck.
