Does anyone know the part # for the harness ar adaptor to add the steering wheel controls on 09 GMC Sierra?

Best bet is to find a used, cheap steering wheel on ebay. I got one for $40 that had the steering wheel radio controls and transfered it over to my new leather steering wheel that only had cruise that I got for $75 on ebay also. It is very easy to do.

Thanks for your reply, however, I already have a leather wheel with the controls already, but don't know if I need the adaptor, I am also adding the non lux navigation unit.

Any opinions appreciated.

I think there was another topic on this and it was said that the harness was not sold seperatly and that it would be easier to just but the whole wheel. Dont quote me on this, I am going by what I remember. Hope that helps!

I don't understand what you mean by adapter then. If you already have the steering wheel with the radio controls then no adapter should be needed. The wiring is in the wheel and just plugs into the steering column. Did your truck come with cruise control already?

I think there are 2 different harnesses for the wheels, one for the cruise and the other for the cruise and radio. I think you need to replace the harness which you already have with the cruise to the harness with the cruise and radio controls. The only problem is I dont think you can buy just the harness. So I don't believe there is any adaptor it is a matter of having the right harness.

Gil is right, if you already bought a wheel with the the controls on it, it should plug right in...unless you don't have cruise on your current wheel. The harness inside the wheel with the radio controls isn't available separately.

Sorry for the newbie question but what exactly is involved with adding the Radio controls to an 09 silverado with Cruse, non-nav, non-bose, no BT? When you say buy a new steering wheel, it all comes in one piece? Do you know the part number?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, you'll have to buy a new steering wheel with the radio controls already on it. You can't just add the radio controls because you will not find the harness that goes inside. If you have cruise, it is just plug and play. I don't have a part number, but steering wheels for 2008 and up, tahoes, sierras, silverados, yukons, suburbans, and others will fit, just look at the pictures and if it looks like yours..... Check ebay, new ones are kind of expensive, I looked for about two months before buying what I did, see above. I spent $115. If you already have a leather wheel with cruise then buy a cheap used black wheel with the radio controls. You will take off the radio controls, the wiring harness and the back side of the wheel and replace those parts on yours. It is very easy.

Just make sure you connect everything back up. Read all the posts so that you get everything straight in your mind before you do it and disconect the battery for at least 20 minutes to protect from the airbags.

Search and read.
