Airlift Ridecontrol Bolt Failure

Recommended Posts

So I installed these in April '08 and they have worked wonderfully and make a big difference while towing. Over the weekend I load the truck and trailer and go to put air in bags and notice that bracket is shifted. Two of the bolts on the passenger side bracket have sheared off and the whole top bracket is now bent. The system is supposed to have a lifetime warranty on it. I'm calling AirLift this morning and will report back.

I called AirLift and they want me to return the damaged parts for evaluation.

No it's never been overloaded. The most it has ever has is our 4 place ATV trailer with 1 4wd and 3 sport atv's. It doesn't even come close to the 5000 capacity of the trailer.

Those look like rusted regular grade 5 bolts. Should have had stronger bolts.

I went out and looked at the bolts and there are no marks on the heads. Does that mean they are only grade 2 bolts? If so they supplied pretty cheap bolts and I'll replace them with better ones.
