Hi folks, just picked up a black 2008 Silverado 2500HD 4x4 crew cab LT today so I'm joining the forum.

Got the truck from Innisfail Truck Ranch here in Alberta, 48000 km but looks to be well taken care of...usual wear.

Already been reading a lot, this place sure is a gold mine of information.

So I have lots of questions on the truck now...will try to use the search function as much as I can but until I get used to the forum I have a couple things I need to look into:

1. The truck came without a brake controller. I understand the tekonsha prodigy is a good choice, but what else do i need to hook this up? Is there a factory wiring harness I can just plug into?

2. How easy or hard is it to replace the standard power heated mirrors with tow-type rectangular mirrors, and where is a good place to order these online?

Appreciate any guidance...will be exploring the forums a lot in the next week.

Welcome!!!

There is wiring underneath the dash to hook up a brake controller,It should be located right under the steering column,It consists of four blunt-cut wires.

You'll also have to hook-up a wire under the hood as well.

Its also very easy to change out the mirrors,GM offers an accessory upgrade kit to add the camper mirrors.
