Rear Spring Spacer?

Recommended Posts

I was just washing my 04 2500hd, and noticed that 3 of the round disks that sit between the ends of the bottom rear leaf springs are missing.

What do these do?

I have had the same problem on my 2001 although I have noticed on the last ones I purchased the design has been changed. The spring noise is quite evident when those are missing. Can hear if on a city street with the window down it sounds like something is loose. Easy to install new ones just jack it up to create a little clearance and pop the new ones in.

they help keep the end's of the leaf's from wearing into the leaf above and help noise .springs work on friction and no of the springs are perfectly arched to fit together, also when there is more arch in each leaf they increase the spring rate and installed height its kinda a balance of getting a good quiet ride and what will haul a load and not break your back !
