Silverado Stock Mirrors Or Heated Manual Extending ?

Recommended Posts

Looking for opinions on the stock mirrors vs the 'DPN' option (manual extending, heated mirrors with turn signals).

I like the stock mirrors in that they offer the auto-tilt during reverse and auto-folding when parked. I won't be towing *that* much, but have found a third party option to add a wider mirror on when I need it.

That being said, is the coverage more with the DPN mirrors, and should I just take the plunge and forget about the folding/tilting options ?

Go for the towing mirrors. You'll love them when towing, and when not towing still give you a better view behind you.

When towing, bigger mirrors is better...but since I only tow on rare occasion now, I like my stockers. Both my 99 2500 and my 08 1500 have stocker type mirrors, the 99 has electric adjustables and the 08 has the full heated/tilt/turnsignal types. I've towed 7 ft high, wide slant load horse trailers with the 2500 and not really been too handicapped to cause me to change the mirrors and I've only flat towed a Jeep with the 1500 and it was just fine with the stocker mirrors. That being said, I wouldn't give a nickel extra for the tilt feature, but I love the heated feature to remove the dew in the wet mornings, signals I'm indifferent on.
