Swapping 88 350 To A Lt1 2002 Engine

I just bought a LT1 2002 motor out of a camero that had a 6 speed and I want to put it in my 88 chevy 1500 pickup. this motor only has 38K miles and I picked it up pretty cheap (around 700 bucks) and it came with wiring harness & ecm. Other than getting a new flex plate/flywheel what other problems will I run into if any. My truck has an automatic 700R4 freshly rebuilt.

they stopped making the lt1 in 1997 so it couldnt be a 2002. a 700r4 wont just bolt up to it because was designed for a 4l60e witch doesnt have a tv cable . so youll need to get around that .

If the engine is from 2002, it is an LS1. I am currently in the middle of a LT1/700r4 swap for my camaro, but I cant provide you very much help because they are both still sitting in my garage. I know for a fact, you will need a VSS sensor for the 700r4 or something that converts an analog speedo cable to VSS, and an TCC control kit from Painless or TCI that will control the torque converter. You would also need a TV cable hookup on the throttle body like said above. If you find out you really do have an LT1, the 1993 model cars had throttle bodies with a TV hookup. You would also need to get the computer reflashed to get rid of all the codes and features you wont need or have hooked up, but I'm sure you know that. You might want to take a look around LT1/LS1/F-Body boards and see if they can help you.

You most likely have an LS1 if it's out of a 2002 Camaro. You will likely find that using the stock ECM isn't the best option; you would be better served to get something like a FAST EFI controller. You'd also probably be best to sell your rebuilt 700R4 and buy a 4L60 or 4L60E (or for that matter, even looking into a T56 swap might be a good option.

Not exactly sure what engine it is LT1 or the LS1. a friend knew i was looking for a engine to replace mine with and he stumbled on this one... he said it was out of the 2001 or 2002 camaro.

If he has the stock harness, he can save a lot of money by using it. My Painless harness for an LT1 was over 800.00. It helps that it is labled and has no extra wiring, but they are really expensive depending on the engine.
