2010 Silverado Crew - Noise From Rear Pass. Corner

New truck with 1,000 miles on it....sounds like the rear passenger door is not shut good at highway speeds. Sounds alot like plain road noise.....Well, pulled out the seats and peeled the carpet back, and put down some "Dynomat" style material on the bare metal areas. I also filled the voids in the C-Pillars with foam insulation and then covered the 2-3 inch diameter holes with the material. Can't even tell a difference.

 

Have some weather strip thinking about putting on the bottom of the door, on top of the strip that's already there. NOt sure where the noise is coming from.

 

I know there's other postings about this, but no one has a solution. Was hoping I'd be the first....no dice.

i think theres a bulletin on some rubber or something that goes on the frame between the cab

Oh man...seriously?? I had the idea after NONE of this helped any, that somehow the frame is transferring the noise through to the cab.

 

If you can find the bulletin please post it. THANK YOU

search for it, from what i can remeber is theres some sort of rubber dampener between the cab and frame...and gm came out with a special improved one for this issue...

Every search I'm finding says it's the cab vents on the back of the cab.

Every CC I drove and the 09 I bought have this issue. Michlien tires helped some but it is there..must be use to it now as only notice it now and again...maybe Willies Place xm 13 drowns it out!

I took a piece of 1-2 inch diameter foam, about 8 inches in length, and wedged it between the bed and cab, just below the cab vent. It definitley changed the pitch to a more "tolerable" pitch. It's just more of a wind noise rather than the whine/road noise. I think covering the vent is what is going to solve this problem, but that will cause other problems that have been described before. So not sure what to do now.

Pressure building in the cab, defroster not working.

My truck makes that noise also.My 07nbs crew and my 09 Denali both do it .I have tried tape to seal the bed to the cab (airflow) Taped the cab vents shut, taped around the rear doors and back glass,moved the bed to line up with the cab better,replaced the rear door seals under warranty,Not one thing has helped at all. The dealer also hears the noise but can not find anything wrong.I have found out some trucks don't make the noise as bad as others .My 07 Chevy had a sliding rear window I thought that was the problem but it wasn't. I have given up and decided to live with it. Let me say that this is the only problem that I have had . I still love my truck very much.Good luck if you find a solution please let us know.

I'm surprised that taping the vents shut didn't help....that's not a permanent solution, but I would have thought that it would have quietened down when you taped them shut.

 

I've found that if you can find something like a pool noodle (the styrofoam-like thing used in swimming pools that kids play with), and wedge a piece just under the cab vent, between the bed and cab. It's more road noise than wind noise, and that piece of foam blocks the sound that's coming off of the road and funneling up between the bed/cab. No, it's not a permanent solution, but I don't know what to do.
