I finally think Michigan switched over to the Summer blend of gas. I had a little im-prompto 800 mile, 4 day trip. first my trucks an 05 crewcab z71, 4.10 gears. the only mods are a tonneau cover, airaid Jr. intake, and a magnaflow replacement muffler.

at 70 MPH and 4 (3 and me) passangers I averaged 17+ MPG. I have been averaging high 15's driving by myself.

at 60 MPH, by myself, and a sofa in the back, I averaged 19+. although I had a tailwind helping out occasionally.

my trip took me to Chicago, I was shocked that regular gas was $3.80 a gallon  . the same gas in Michigan was $3.31, anyone know why there's such a difference?

anyways I was just pleased with the Silvy's performance and thought I'd share.

I just noticed my mileage was insanely good my last tank as well (17.6). It's been absolutely crap all winter 13-14.

Damn, I thought this was gonna be a topic about Taco Bell...

I don't think they've switched over to the summer blend yet here.

Me too. And I was going to reply "there's a bad kind?"

Because I WILL fully execute the "pull my finger" joke at the dinner table.

That's right ladies...AND I'm available! Wink wink ;)

Michigan has not changed over to summer blend because the price hasn't jumped up yet and as for better fuel economy its the warmer weather that improves economy more than the winter blend. The colder the ambient temp the longer the injector pulse width has to be to reach 14.3 A/F and the same goes for hotter weather shorter pulse width. And Chicago does not use the same gas they use oxygenated gas there gas is always higher than MI's gas.

a lot of times it's due to the amount of state/local taxes on the gas. Here in CA, the taxes on gas are higher than quite a few other states thus the reason why we're usually higher. Those extra taxes are supposed to go for repairing the roads yet we have the worst roads in the country :smash:

Other times it's just because they can get the higher prices.

Chicago is more expensive for 2 reasons. First, more taxes. Second, our EPA has determined that we need special reformulated fuel for Chicagoland to reduce ozone. I do have a very valid question though. Why do we need 17 different formulas of reformulated gas? I have a couple of refineries that are customers and they all complain about the different types of "reformulated" fuels they need depending on where in the country. For example, the reformulated fuel in California is NOT the same as the reformulated fuel in Chicago. Why the hell don't they have ONE reformulated fuel for all parts of the country that need it due to pollution??????????

probably just another excuse for them to keep prices high.

Here in Mid-MO gas jumped one day by 20 cents. They claim it was because they switched from the winter blend to the summer blend. But the next day they go down 10 cents. Go figure.

Today i saw a $1.19 per litre for gas and $1.28 per litre for diesel at the pump. Dont think thats summer blend yet though.
