New Blower Fan Motor Is Still Noisy

Lately my truck's original blower motor was getting very noisy, and after using it for about an hour or so, it would start making very loud chirping noises (think of crickets on speed :dunno:) that I could easily hear through the engine, road, and radio. I bought a replacement blower motor from the local NAPA for just under $40 and installed it the other day. This one doesn't chirp like the old one, but it makes almost as much noise as the other did! It rapidly clicks and whines; the higher the speed, the faster it clicks and louder it whines. Unless it's on high, it's not loud enough to hear while cruising with the radio at a normal volume. Is this normal or is it defective?

I'm certain the noise is coming from the motor.

I did clean off the evaporator coil and whatever else I could get to in the ducts a month or so ago.

Unless the blower fan Squirrel cage) is damaged, it almost would have to be debris in the housing. The blower itself is nothing more than an electric motor. I'm going with leaves in the system. It can be hard to get them all out.

Cage was fine when I installed it, and if it was debris, wouldn't the noise be somewhat inconsistent?

Yeah... you would think debris would be sort of random sounding. I guess the motor could be bad. Might try pulling it out and powering it up out of the housing and see if it still makes racket. A pain no doubt.
