  1. 30% of the oil life has been used in about 2500 or so miles -- seems to match up with what others find. Again, it's not a measurement of the oil level.
  2. Truck is used 30,000 miles per year. Oil changed a 'month or so ago'. Lets go with 6 weeks , so a month and a half. 30000/12 = 2500 miles per month. Month and a 1/2 means 3750 miles. If 30% oil life = 3750 miles, then when it suggests oil change at 100%, it will have 3750/30 x100 = 12,500 miles. How many miles were you hoping it would go before the oil needed to be changed? (if the last change was a month ago, the 30000/12=2500 miles; 2500/30 x100 = 8300 miles per oil change)
  3. We don't know that GM isn't going after the frame plant/supplier. (OEM's recovering warranty cost from suppliers was common when I was in auto parts manufacturing. I suspect that they still are.) We don't know that any changes to the process weren't asked for by GM. They would certainly would have had to have GM's approval if changes were made. It may also be that changes to material/process were required because of ever-changing environmental emission issues.
  4. Yes, I really wanted to add it to my 2016 (SLT/5.3/8spd/max tow) -- but it can't be done (through GM).
  5. Without FHS it won't have the ethanol sensor. For 2015 Sierra: FHS NEW! E85 FlexFuel capable - Included with (LV3) 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 engine. Available to order with (L83) 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 engine. (In 2014 it was standard on 5.3 as well) (In 2015 it is 0ptional with (L83) 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 engine with (MYC) 6-speed automatic transmission or included with (LV3) 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 engine.) ---- which means it is not available in combination with the 8 speed transmission
  6. I see $495 in design build for IO6 from IO5. Are you sure the $800 doesn't also include something else? IO5 Audio system, 8" Diagonal Color Touch Screen with IntelliLink, AM/FM/SiriusXM, HD Radio with USB ports, auxiliary jack, Bluetooth streaming audio for music and most phones, advanced phone integration featuring Apple CarPlay, Pandora Internet radio and voice-activated technology for radio and phone SLE and SLT - Upgradeable to (IO6) 8" Diagonal Color Touch audio system with Navigation and IntelliLink. IO6 Audio system, 8" Diagonal Color Touch Screen Navigation with IntelliLink, AM/FM/SiriusXM, HD Radio with USB ports, auxiliary jack, Bluetooth streaming audio for music and most phones, advanced phone integration featuring Apple CarPlay, Pandora Internet radio and voice-activated technology for radio and phone SLE - Not available with (GAT) All Terrain Package on SLE. SLT - Included with (PDT) SLT Crew Cab Premium Plus Package.
  7. Without the alcohol sensor (included with the E85 option) you won't get the horsepower and torque benefit of higher fuel rates in the programming tables for the E85. (and blends)
  8. Bump the key and let us know what it does.
  9. Block heaters are optional everywhere, but I can understand than few Texas dealers would order one. GM has published a chart of expected crank time vs ambient temperature. http://sandyblogs.com/techlink/?p=2971
  10. This is my second 'latest gen' GM pickup. No auto fill problems with either.
  11. See last paragragh: http://sandyblogs.com/techlink/?p=3134 New Engine Technologies and New Sounds April 8, 2014 The latest generation of engine technologies found on the 2014 Corvette and 2014-2015 Silverado 1500, Suburban, Tahoe, Sierra 1500, Yukon and Yukon XL may produce some unfamiliar sounds during cold starts as well as during warm operation. The new engines include the 4.3L V6 (RPO LV3) (Fig. 10), 5.3L V8 (RPO L83), 6.2L V8 (RPOs L86 and LT1). F10 4.3L V6 Fig 10 Direct Injection The new small block engine family uses a Direct Injection (DI) fuel system. The fuel is injected directly into the cylinder using a high pressure fuel system, which improves power, torque, and fuel efficiency. The high pressure fuel pump can generate a subtle ticking sound that is apparent when the vehicle is idling. The sound is more evident when outside the vehicle, when the hood is open or the vehicle is operated in a drive-through environment. The sound may be more noticeable during a cold start, but lessens once the engine is warm. A slightly higher pitched clicking sound is the fuel injectors pulsing on and off under the high fuel pressures. These sounds are normal characteristics of the DI system. Another operating characteristic is a slightly longer crank time, which is the result of the time required to build high pressure in the fuel system before the engine starts. Oil Pump The oil pump design on these engines is a two-speed vane-type pump. Its dual-pressure control enables operation at a very efficient oil pressure at lower rpm, and then delivers higher pressure at higher engine speeds. At temperatures of 32°F (0°C) or colder, when the engine has been sitting for a few hours, it is possible to have air enter the pump through normal oil drainback. Upon start-up, a short rasp sound may be heard from the front of the engine. It is most often heard during a remote start. This is a normal condition.

  13. Or maybe the problem is what is supplied with some lift kits, or how they are installed.
  14. Dealer can't fix the weather, and no they won't work when covered. "These detection distances may be shorter during warmer or humid weather. Blocked sensors will not detect objects and can also cause false detections. Keep the sensors clean of mud, dirt, snow, ice, and slush; and clean sensors after a car wash in freezing temperatures."
  15. Is the Auto engaging/disengaging the transfer case when you 'push it' at those speeds? Does it also vibrate under those conditions in 4H?
  16. Frame is dipped in wax at the factory.
  17. Not according to the 2016 order guide it's not 'std' on 2LT. Guide says: Included and only available with (PCM) LT Convenience Package, (PDU) All Star Edition or (PDA) Texas Edition. (it's also available in convenience packages on LS and WT. It's standard on LTZ and High country)
  18. 8L90 Gear ratios First: 4.560 Second: 2.970 Third: 2.080 Fourth: 1.690 Fifth: 1.270 Sixth: 1.000 Seventh: 0.850 Eighth: 0.650
  19. Check for rpo code UVC on the label in the glovebox. UVC is rear vision camera. If it left the factory with a camera, the code will be on the label. Did you check the tailgate handle for the camera lense? Maybe it has one and the harness is unplugged. PCM (LT convenience package) or PDU (all star edition) will get the UVC camera on an 2015 LT2.
  20. They will thread an extruded hole (like the one DanY) described, but don't have the drill point that a self drill/tap screw has. http://www.rblockers.com/republic-storage-screw-self-treading-8-32-x-5-16.html?gclid=Cj0KEQiArJe1BRDe_uz1uu-QjvYBEiQACUj6oszPFVorE1HVswJKA6fZf0ICse4nO8H9uFk2IvrwGucaAmZE8P8HAQ http://www.zoro.com/caddy-screw-self-tapping-12-in-pk100-sms8/i/G2844947/?gclid=Cj0KEQiArJe1BRDe_uz1uu-QjvYBEiQACUj6oqi_7JPuxluVNai7meMG0clPslFxEWiKE-yo31QLHcgaAusg8P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds
  21. P0300 is 'random misfire'.
  22. Looks like one truck per year.
  23. M mode limits the transmission to whatever 'M' number you select. You can also select M6 -- but this is the same as being in D. However, it does give you the ability to switch from D mode to M mode without moving the column lever.
  24. Correct. In M5, it will use any gear it thinks it needs, up to 5th. In M4, it will use any gear it thinks it needs, up to 4th. etc.
  25. For 2016 GM isn't offering the flexfuel option on the 5.3/8speed, just on the 5.3/6speed. Can that been 'overridden' with the service equipment? Maybe they haven't 'released' the necessary programming for the 5.3 to be able to communicate with the 8 speed.
