  1. It's was only about $100 to add it at the factory on a 15 5.3.
  2. In the 2015 manual the power outlet fuses are listed as in the instrument panel fuse box.
  3. Some 'undercarriage' items are not coated, some are painted (or e coated) some are waxed.
  4. Wax is not sprayed on. The frame is dipped. You will notice there are runs in the wax going from the front of the frame towards the back. The runs are front to back because the frame is held up by the front end when it passes thru the wash tank and the wax tank.
  5. Seeing as how much of the west is posted at 80 mph you can bet they are wind tunneling at 80+.
  6. I wonder if an adjustment to the position of the glass would change the sound?
  7. A bunch of that is 'nice to know' rather than 'need to know'.
  8. Still learning about mine. If it is active, there will be a green indicator (light pic, with small A) on the dash. The blue high beam indicator will still work when on high beams. If intellibeam is turned on, and the low beams are on, and you turn on the fogs -- then intellibeam will not turn on high beams. If you later turn off the fogs, intellibeam will return to normal function. If intellibeam has high beams activated, fogs will not turn on when you push the button. If it is deactivated, the high/low changer must be activated twice in 2 seconds to turn it back on. If you go below 20kph (12mph) to turns the low beams on. It won't switch to high unless above 40kph (25mph). If you think it should turn to lows and it does not it can easily be overridden with the high/low lever.
  9. Maybe it was Manual Mode you were reading about?
  10. Z71 also includes the new 'Hill Descent Control" feature (the one that works sort of like cruise, but will only works when between 2 and 14 mph) as well as the trim changes on silverado (no trim differences on sierra except the label on front fender), different shocks and the description also says a different air filter.
  11. They were building 2015's before Oct 14, but I'm also surprised the online version has not been updated.
  12. 5.3 and 6.2 recommendation was reduced to 8 quarts from the original 8.5. Capacity and Viscosity Charts for 2013, 2014, and 2015 engines: http://sandyblogs.com/techlink/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/TechLink-engine-oil-capacities-2012-2015.pdf Info from Oct 2014: (says there is no need to drain the extra 1/2 qt, but that 8 qt is the revised recommendation for 5.3/6.2 http://sandyblogs.com/techlink/?p=3822) Note that the DIMPLES are the full and low marks, not the edge of the cross hatching.
  13. Don't they call that 6.5 footer the 'standard' box nowadays? (And the 8 footer the long box)
  14. Yes, it certainly seems there was a problem with the process which resulted in poorer than normal adhesion.
  15. The recall is not very old. You probably picked it up before it was released.
  16. Wax doesn't chip like paint.
  17. They've been waxing frames for at least 15 years.
  18. The corrosion portion of the warranty doesn't even mention the frame. Just sheet metal. From 2014 warranty booklet: Sheet Metal Coverage Sheet metal panels are covered against corrosion and rust-through as follows: Corrosion: Body sheet metal panels are covered against rust for 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. Rust-Through: Any body sheet metal panel that rusts through, an actual hole in the sheet metal, is covered for up to 6 years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Important: Cosmetic or surface corrosion, resulting from stone chips or scratches in the paint, for example, is not included in sheet metal coverage.
  19. Peltier Effect: (more of today's lesson ) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermoelectric_cooling
  20. Here's one place for more info: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/173185-62l-8-speed-owners-gm-update-15389/
  21. There is a service update for torque converter clutch shudder on the 8 speed. (Jul 2015 timeframe IIRC) I think it is programming changes only.
  22. From Techlink Swapping Mirrors on a Vehicle Equipped with Door Modules TIP: Before any parts are installed, calibrations must be obtained and door switch modules and switch bezels must be reviewed and obtained if necessary. Do not attempt the mirror swap if calibrations and/or needed parts are not obtained. Obtain new door module calibrations from the Techline Customer Support Center at 1-800-828-6860 (English) or 1-800-503-3222 (French). Provide the RPO of the mirrors being installed and request a new calibration for both door modules. If switching from RPO DL3 to RPO DPN/DL8 or vice versa, a new driver’s door switch module and switch trim bezel may need to be obtained. Review the latest version of PIT4417 for additional information about using original components or new components as well as the functionality of the new mirrors.
