  1. I think i would take my chances with another brand at this point, two buybacks in a row is brutal. What was the piece of plastic that broke that created this mess for you?
  2. It's not the sun overheating anything, its cheap rubbish made parts. Go look at the 14-18 forums to see what great pieces of crap gm a/c parts consist of these days. Mine lasted 3 1/2 years at least, and 32k before it decided to leak from oh the lines, the evap, the condenser, only original piece left now is the compressor and i heard those are not much better. Looks like they are using the same low quality components that are guaranteed to fail at some point.
  3. Yes the random tapping noise is what you are talking about right? My 14 6.2 has the same random occasional tap noise at idle.
  4. These engines both the 6.2 and 5.3 sound like a box of rocks at idle imo, nothing new my 14 6.2 does the same thing. Personally i really don't want to allow a gm tech at a dealer to crack open my engine unless it is no doubt gone or in trouble! I will say while driving though she revs fine and sounds great in the upper rpm range.
  5. Probably the condenser, even if you do it yourself and go aftermarket to save a few bucks you are going to be spending a couple hundred at the very least. If your like me and dont have the time, skill or tools you are going to be looking at a grand give or take a hundred or two. I think the cheapest i have seen someone get one installed on here was like 6-700 bucks.
  6. I'm really starting to think about selling my truck and just leasing from here on out, i don't think they are built to last anymore and i truly would rather spend 300 a month on a lease deal then 2 grand here, a grand there and 500 here trying to keep an older vehicle running.
  7. Crazy gm has known problems with this part and instead of fixing it they put duct tape on it, lol this is such a half arsed fix i can do nothing but laugh....
  8. How could a piece of tape with a size of 2" x 4" only placed in the upper right hand corner that also doesn't look factory and has about a 1/4"-1/2" on the edge of the condenser which looks like it is trying to seal something up be a heat shield. I also talked to two separate dealer parts departments and both stated the condenser does not come with any kind of tape on it. Are you positive this is a heat shield, can anyone else on here please look at your condenser since we have many that have had dealers replace them look to see if yours is the same. Not saying your wrong but im just not convinced the way this looks that is like this from factory. edit... Check that, i just seen your comment to look back, thanks for the info but this looks like one half arsed fix to be honest, literally looks to me like they just slapped a piece of tape on it and said fixed. In any case at least i know that this was not some patch job my dealer did, it is a patch job that gm did unfortunately. Glad i looked into this before i made an ass out of myself at the service department haha.
  9. So about that warranty lol... Not that i won't eventually get this settled and fixed right but any chance we have any gm techs here on the board that could tell me why when i looked into the front grill at my ac condenser that my dealer stated they replaced, that i see what looks like a large piece of silver tape in the upper right hand corner, the tape like hvac people use to seal around sheet metal ducts? I am really thinking my dealer fixed my condenser with tape, yes i said that correctly tape! Now if that's the case i have the evidence on my condenser currently and paperwork that states very clearly that the condenser was bad and replaced. To me this now becomes a case of fraud that the dealer is committing towards the manufacture. Im am trying to call other dealers and ac repair shops to get a little more info to see if this is common practice or if gm has a bulletin stating to try and fix it this way, still though as i said the paper work clearly states it was replaced. I would like a little more info before i call said dealer and unleash a campaign of scorched freaking earth on them!
  10. No thanks, i know my place and under the hood of these newer gen vehicles is not one of them.
  11. Yup i had the same issues, first the dealer replaced the hose and recharged, lasted a week before blowing hot again. Next of course was the condenser and those two items as listed here with cost from dealer paid for the entire amount and then some for the extended i bought. 0 dollars out of my pocket and gm is on the hook for another 2 plus years for anything that goes wrong with my truck. My problem though is what i'm going to do after it is up, i don't like the long term feeling im getting with how costly even just a single repair can be. Would rather pay my 400-500 a month and have a nice new vehicle that if it breaks is entirely on the manufacture for fixing. I truly want to vomit when forced to spend thousands on a old vehicle, i feel like i'm wasting my money these days with how cheaply and poorly everything is made.
  12. It's only cosmetic but i do agree it looks poor when it browns up and flakes off leaving rust patches. Gm has been this way since i started driving back in the early 90's, all my trucks after a couple years living in mass also have turned that way with the wax coating they have used for decades. One thing though at least i have never had a single issue with frame rot, rust yes but not rot thankfully.
  13. My 2014 is like a concert of a box of rocks lol, i can't stand the sound these di engines make, seriously annoying.
  14. I think the last few years have shown these di gm engines consume oil, some more then others. Just look at the couple post were forum members took the head off their engines and found oil/carbon deposits all over the valves and top end of the engine. A reason why many here have chosen to install catch-canisters to help reduce the oil build up.
  15. Well i once again have warm air for a/c, i would be irate if i didn't have an 0 deduct extended warranty, thank god i bought one for this truck!
  16. Well looks like im like everyone else, was brought in probably 2 or 3 weeks ago and they said they replaced a line going to the condenser even though everything under the hood looks the same, all ac lines didn't look new to me. So i'm sure it's no surprise to anyone here that it is now blowing hot air again. We will see what the dealer says it is this time, they might as well replace the entire system because i have almost 3 years left on my warranty and only have 31k on my truck so they are not getting out of repairing this!
  17. De-chroming it really makes it stand apart from other trucks here imo.
  18. Not sure, but anything is possible i guess. So far i have not had any issues with the lines leaking in my 14, though i only have 31,000 miles on it. I remember my 95 s10 zr2 went through 6 sets of lines i think in the 120k/10 years i owned it, thankfully they never separated at the crimp though.
  19. Leaking yes, blowing out and dumping the oil out by the quart no or at least i don't remember seeing a single person ever have that issue on a 14-18 model here. Certainly not this many people in this short of time frame though. And Shawn just realize that the PT warranty only covers specific items, most sensors, gaskets, bolted on items and things that nature are more than likely not covered under it.
  20. Why not just redact any info you do not want seen and they don't need from the pdf statement that you can download from your credit card website? Yeah a pain but certainly worth getting your 400 bucks back, just my opinion here.
  21. Turns out i have a faulty evap core, service writer said my truck has two of them ?? Claimed the one in the back went bad, thinking he might be mistaken for maybe a suv, do the 14's have 2 evap cores? In any case for those on the fence with a newer or about to get new truck this little problem just made the money i spent on a extended gmpp pay off, one repair, i still have nearly 3 years left on it.
  22. Well sure enough went to turn the a/c on this last saturday and after 5-10 minutes of driving i had nothing but outside air temps through the vents. Looks like that extended warranty i purchased is about to pay for itself. Not sure what the issue is but i'm sure it's either the condenser or the compressor, in either case gm will be picking up the tab or they better as i believe should be covered under a gmpp.
  23. This situation stinks man, i feel for you guys and hope you all get a acceptable outcome here.
  24. Yes the gmt 800's from 03-06.5, also technically the 14-15 silverado is missing as well but still cool to see the progression next to each other. Man is the gmt 900 such and ugly duckling, worst gm fullsize ever made imo inside and out.
  25. I would ask for a gmpp extended platinum warranty 7/80k or better if they offer it. They can also grant you certificates for accessories, but if it was me a full extended warranty would be my main want here. Powertrain warranties don't cover enough imo, only take a full extended gmpp so that your mostly covered for any issues that could possible pop up in the future.
